Dr. Boaen is fellowship trained, going beyond general orthopedic training to specialize in a the non-surgical and surgical (both open & arthroscopic) treatment of sports-related injuries. Meet Dr. Boaen
My commitment to you as a patient is that I will listen to you and treat you with the dignity and respect that I believe everyone deserves, as I believe we are partners in this process of healing. I have a deep respect for the intricacies of the human body, its design, and its ability to heal. My job as an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist is to use whatever non-operative methods I can to assist you and your body to heal. If surgical intervention is necessary, my job becomes to use the least invasive method possible to fix/repair (sometimes replace) and hold things back in their place in order to allow your body to do the healing. It is always a team effort between myself, you as the patient, and often a physical therapist, occupational therapist, athletic trainer, etc. Each of our participation and commitment is vital to the success of treatment. I am humbled by the opportunity to come alongside you in your journey back to health and wholeness.

You’re In good Hands
Dr. Boaen was born and raised in Savannah, GA. He participated in various sports in the community growing up, as well as football, basketball, and baseball at Savannah Country Day. He attended the University of Pennsylvania where he played Varsity football and baseball, being named Academic All-Ivy League for two years and voted team captain in baseball. He graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Economics, but felt called instead to pursue a career in medicine, specifically Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
He attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He went on to complete his residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga in general orthopedic surgery, and continued his training to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the Andrews Institute under the tutelage of renowned Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. James Andrews.
The Fellowship provided him with an immersive experience in both operative and non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in professional, collegiate, and high school athletes. His team physician experience included primary orthopedic coverage of Tuskeegee University and Crestview high school football and athletics, as well as some work with the Tampa Rays during spring training. Since returning back home to Savannah, he has worked with The Habersham School Athletics as well as Chain baseball providing team coverage and orthopedic care.
